Got to the unit to find that the basket did not want to turn by hand. During normal cycle found that the basket would barely move an inch or so. This seems to be the effect of the bearings locking up in the lower end. This was reinforced when getting underneath the unit was able to turn the motor. Had lots of resistance. Spoke with customer about options for repair. Customer saw that the unit would not be cost-effective to fix at this time. Customer going to be getting a new unit. Collected for service call.

"Got back to this unit to hear from customer that the washer would fill with water and drain at the same time. Unit would not lock or unlock. All of this was intermittent. Customer had to shut off the water to the unit to get stop flowing. Immediately called tech line on this unit to report what the customer has said and what I was finding. During the call to tech line the unit was filling and draining at the same time just as mentioned. with some further testing found that the actuator and water valve will need to be replaced. Putting parts together for that order to fix this unit. Same SR number used. "Upon arrival, found the unit running in cooling operations with a setpoint of 39°F, actual temperature 58.6°F. Inspection under UV light has confirmed reoccurring cooling failure due to a sealed system leak originating from the units evaporator, positive trace for UV die along the left hand side of the evaporator down to the defrost drip pan. This unit evaporator is a non-serviceable component. Edd with Whirlpool Tech Line advised on unit history and findings through inspection. Pictures of confirmed sealed system leak submitted direct to Whirlpool Tech Line as well as attached to this ticket along with a screenshot of the Whirlpool Tech Line Product Exchange email received following service. "Now, with the ability to uninstall the unit, full inspection conducted finding the units blower motor had never been connected to the wire harness during manufacturing resulting in over heating of the electronics, displayed faults and operational failure. Electrical spades of the blower assembly clear of contact marks. Wire harness for the blower assembly was found to be routed towards the front of the unit. Wire harness rerouted, connection restored and secured to correct. Functional testing conducted finding the blower assembly now engaging operation at 170°F in normal bake cycle. All unit operations now check good. Customer instructed to continue normal use of the unit and advised to call for return service should operational failure(s) persist."
